Without realizing it, media plays a huge role in everyone’s life including mine. Many of us have computers (internet), advertisements, television and so much more within and around our lives. In my life media plays a significant role. As I type this, in the background I hear a television that is on which involves a movie and along comes commercials with many advertisements.
I feel I consume and create media messages. By consuming messages I take in what I hear or read in the newspaper and sometimes it does affect me. By this I mean, if I hear about the newest trends or any other messages, I might be influence by these comments that I hear. I create messages by what I wear or say. On an average day everyone is basically a walking billboard. When I say a “walking billboard” it means the brand of clothing we are wearing or even the accessories we have on. Earlier today I was an advertisement for Kennywood Park. Since we live in a technology world, media is in our everyday life. Whether we want to believe it or not we cannot get away or take a break from media.
My major is corporate communication, this class that I am taking; I hope to have a better understanding of mass media in what it all pertains. Communication classes are a necessary because no matter what job you have or will have in the near future, it is always a positive and will benefit me, it’s NEVER a negative.
