A couple of years ago Subway was famous for one particular person losing weight. This individual’s name is Jared Fogle. Yes we all know who Jared is he is the famous Subway guy. He weighed over 400 pounds and lost over 245 lbs pounds. He is known for his significant weight loss, known as the Subway diet. He was constantly on many of the Subway commercials promoting this kind of lifestyle. If you go to a subway now there are even calories are the napkin comparing their foods to McDonalds. This is to show you which type of food is better for you.
And in this youtube clip the woman states that one of the hardest things about losing weight is getting started. I feel that people do have motivation but to find the time to exercise and eat healthy is another story. Sometimes it can be hard to find time when it is between work, parents running their children around for various practices for school, homework, and among many other things that occur in someone’s life. For many, after a long hard day it is a lot easier to stop at a fast food restaurant and place an order through the drive thru that is high in calories than to stop at a place where it doesn’t have a drive thru. Each and every day we have that choice to eat healthy and to watch what we eat.
Subway is promoting a certain kind of lifestyle. The lifestyle of be healthy and happy. This lifestyle allows you to still eat out but in a healthier way. Subway uses a real life human being to show it is possible to lose the weight and to eat their healthy sandwiches. By seeing Jared in the subway commercials, this begins to make you think it is possible to lose the weight you want to, just by eating subway.
Do you think that he actually lost weight from subway? Or is this just to try to sell their product. This can make people want to eat their stuff just because one person lost weight from it.
ReplyDeleteDo you feel that these kinds of advertisements that promote a healthy lifestyle can actually help people get motivated to live that way?
ReplyDeleteVaughn,
ReplyDeleteGood question. Truthfully I don't think he just lost the weight from only subway. I think you are right about Jared promoting subway. Perhaps he did lose some weight from switching his eating habits, but he had to exercise in order to lose the amount of pounds that he did.
Chelsey,
ReplyDeleteApart of me does think this may get people motivated. Because to see someone lose the amount of weight that Jared did people will think they can too. When you start to see someone do what seems impossible be actually possible then it starts to set in as reality. So instead of grabbing the greasy hamburger, maybe people will grab a healthier sandwich instead. If you can just change one person's opinion then maybe the chain of reactions will take place.
Do you think that people make up the unusual things and put high price on things to make it seem worth buying? For example generic v.s authentic ,does this play an affect on people minds when purchasing the item?
ReplyDeleteCompanies do make items high price in order to make a profit and especially if the item is going to be a hit. This does play an affect on people's minds. Examples would be under armor and the north face. This particular brands are very popular and extremely high priced, but everyone wants or has one.
